About Us

Materials expertise in service of the circular economy

Polymer Upcycling was founded on a simple premise: most plastic waste isn't garbage, it's an underused feedstock. We help organizations see it that way and act on it.

Our mission

We work at the intersection of polymer science, process engineering, and sustainability strategy. Rather than treating recycling as an afterthought, we help clients design upcycling into their materials strategy from the start — so waste streams become inputs, not liabilities.

Our work spans early-stage feasibility studies, material characterization, process development, and support through pilot-scale production, for manufacturers, brands, recyclers, and public sector partners.

How we work

Every project starts with the material itself: what polymer(s) are present, what contamination or degradation exists, and what performance the next application actually requires. From there we scope the shortest credible path from waste stream to viable product — and we're candid when upcycling isn't the right answer for a given material.

What guides us

  • Rigorous, data-first material science — no greenwashing claims we can't back up.
  • Designing for the highest viable use of a material, not just diversion from landfill.
  • Transparent, practical guidance, including when the honest answer is "not yet economical."
  • Collaboration with researchers, recyclers, and industry across the value chain.
